About Rotaract Club Skopje
Rotaract Club Skopje (Ротаракт клуб РТК Скопје) is a volunteer organization of young people in North Macedonia, oriented towards community service, participation and leadership development.
Who we are
We are a club of young people who meet regularly, plan service activities together and carry them out with their own time. Membership is voluntary and unpaid. The work of the club is shaped by the people who are active in it at any given moment, which means the programme changes as members and community needs change.
The club works in the Rotaract tradition of community service and fellowship among young adults, summarised by the phrase used on our own materials: service above self.
Our purpose
Communities function better when people take part in them. Volunteering gives that participation a practical form: it connects people who would otherwise not meet, it directs attention to needs that are easy to overlook, and it gives young people a real setting in which to take responsibility.
Mission
To bring young people together around community service, to organise activities that respond to real local needs, and to support the personal and professional development of members through participation, teamwork and leadership experience.
Vision
Communities in which young people participate as a matter of course — as responsible citizens who cooperate with others, contribute what they can, and pass that habit on to the people who come after them.
Our approach
Activities are proposed and decided by members. Once agreed, a member or a small team takes responsibility for organising the activity: planning, coordination, communication and follow-up. This is deliberate — it is how leadership is learned in a volunteer setting, and it keeps the workload shared.
We prefer commitments we can keep. It is more useful to the community, and more honest, to organise something modest and complete it than to announce something large and abandon it.
Community perspective
Meaningful community work starts with understanding what people actually need and working respectfully alongside them, rather than deciding on their behalf. Where other organizations, institutions or volunteer groups are already active, we prefer to support and cooperate instead of duplicating effort.
